With the massive growth in this area of cycling activity Andy Cook Cycling (ACC) is applying it’s experience of organising succesful cycling events to promoting a number of sportives.
As experienced cyclists ourselves we continue to ride many of these type of events and therefore we have a clear understanding of the rider’s requirements. Alongside our own events we are also involved with helping and advising other promoters with the succesful running of their sportives based on sharing best practice when requested.
This is an extension of the work Andy began when working for British Cycling on the National non-competitive events programme. This involved establishing rules/regulations for these types of rides. By connecting with the major sportive organisers a Non-Competitive events Commision was created to share ideas to ensure that standards of delivery were maintained.
ACC’s expertise extends to identifying safe, scenic and enjoyable routes with relevant risk assessments and liaison with the authorities where necessary.
To celebrate the Tour de France visiting England in 2007 whilst working for British Cycling, Andy organised the “British Cyclosportive” which used the stage 1 route from Greenwich to Canterbury and attracted 5,000 entries.
Major UK sportives that we continue to be involved with include:
- Dragon Ride
- Magnificat
- Great Weston Ride
Later in October we are again promoting the Severn Bridge Sportive on Sunday 16 October from Castle Combe Race Circuit. This great ride crosses the River Severn into the Forest of Dean.
For Easter 2012 we once again will run the superb Cotswold Spring Classic. Details of these specific events to be found on the links shown to the left.
